Burger Stall at White Hart Lane
(Acrylic on Acrylic Board) (A3 Unframed)
Footy is one of my great loves, and I follow the fortunes (or misfortunes) of AFC Bournemouth. I hadn’t visited White Hart Lane since about 1975, when I took a school party from Exeter, to see Spurs play Leeds United. This was in the days of Ossie Ardilles etc, and also in the days when footy hooliganism was at its height. I vowed then not to go to another game.
Of course time changes things, and footy now is a peaceful spectator sport. So last season my pals and I ventured to see the away game at Spurs, one of several venues we have visited. The stadium was much as I remembered it, but of course now a brand new one is being built next door.
I took several images. as I always do of the grounds I visit, and as is sometimes the case, I have made a painting of a couple of these White Hart Lane images. I liked the burger van and the attitude of the supporters, both sides freely mixing. As it should be. Not like 1974!!
