Block print of Gainsborough old mill (2) (Lino Print on Printing Paper) (circa 11 inches x 8 inches)
It’s been two three years since my trip to Lincs to do some art work of the Lincolnshire Wolds. I love the area and the unique mix of fenland and eerie huge landscapes.
Not for from the town of Gainsborough I found the old mill. It”s close enough to walk to from the town, and when I visited it had recently suffered storm damage. But the owner was happy to open it up and let me in to prowl around.
I took lots of images and sketches and have done three or four of them as watercolours with pen.
This is the second one I have translated as a block print. I don’t print very often which is why my cutting and printing techniques are not overly sophisticated, but here it is.
I like the rugged quality which seems in sympathy with the subject.
