Acrylic on Acrylic Board. (Circa A3) (Unframed) I spent a few days in Gorleston-on-Sea in February 2015. It was bright and sunny, but as bitterly cold as I can recall, and the east wind was cutting. I sat on the edge of Breydon Water and painted and sketched. Never such hurried sketches had I ever completed before, so I supplemented my sketch book with plenty of photographs to support my studio work. This is the first from the Gorleston sketch book. I love Breydon Water, and it always mystified me as a child when we took the train to Gt Yarmouth, catching glimpses of it as we approached the town, exactly how one might have accessed the mud flats. Now I know. A haven for wading birds and wildlife, and a necessary access to The River Yare and Oulon Broad. A beautiful place to sit and paint, if a bit arctic!
