Cottages in Old Gorleston Painted by Frank Callaghan.
(Acrylic on Acrylic Board) (Circa A3) (Unframed) This is another from the series of paintings worked from the Gorleston sketch book. When I saw this row of houses or cottages, in the old town not far from the harbour’s mouth, I knew I wanted to paint the view. There is nothing spectacular here. It’s not picturesque, but I am attracted by the somewhat haphazard appearance of the scene, rooftops at varying levels, and above all else the chimneys. Not a commercial composition I know, but one I very much enjoyed painting.
