Durham Street Scene
(Acrylic on Acrylic Board) (A3 Unframed)
I visited Durham in May 2015 as part of a round trip that took in the Southern Lakes. I had never before been to Durham, and I was keen to see the cathedral and the historic city.
I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful city and I enjoyed walking the streets with the views afforded by the higher reaches of the town. Although there are a lot of famous and well known views of Durham, this is the scene that attracted me from the point of view of composition. I liked the aspect of looking over the rise of the bridge, and the mixture of shapes made by the buildings. I also liked the busy nature of the scene.
