East Grinstead (2) (A3 acrylic) (unframed)
I’ve not been to East Grinstead, and I worked this from an image sent by a friend who lives there. This is the second East Grinstead street scene I have painted, not bad for somewhere I haven’t actually seen.
I liked this composition, the timbered houses and a few cars. I usually enjoy painting cars. But as I laboured over the painting of the timbers on the houses, I have to admit to losing enjoyment with this one. However, once they were done, I thought they looked quite smart, and the painting of the cottages on the right was reinvigorated.
Overall I quite like this competition. It feel it’s quite well painted. I might even get to visit East Grinstead some time, and take a sketch book!
