Description
Girder bridge, Boston. USA
(acrylic on water colour paper) (210mm x 297mm)
Like my recent painting of 42nd Street (NY), this image was taken from my collection of sketches and photographs of my New York/Boston trip of a few years ago. I found it whilst looking through old material, and wondered why I hadn’t done a painting of it. So I did, and here it is.
It’s is not a busy picture like the NY paintings, but I was very much attracted to the sculptural form of the bridge. I liked the negative shapes made by the girders, offering glimpses of sky through the gaps in the ironwork.
And so I thought that it would make a good small acrylic. As such it’s something of a ‘quickie’, but non the less, here it is.
