King’s College Chapel. Cambridge
Oil on Canvas (12 inches x 8.5 inches) (Unframed)
This is considerably smaller than I regularly paint. It is taken from the images and the sketch book of a visit to Cambridge in very early spring, 2019. The weather was bright and cold and Cambridge looked amazing.
I have already completed two outdoor scenes and posted them to this site, and I shall certainly do at least one more.
This is the only interior image. I love KIng’s College and well remember my first visit there, when I was taken by my Aunt, by bus from Norwich, when I was about 14.
we went to KIng’s College. At that time, no entry fee and no restrictions to movement. The ‘Adoration of The Magi’, by Rubens, had just arrived, and was displayed on a large easel/tressel by the entrance. The current guides claim it was never there, but I remember it clearly, and it certainly was.
I caught this slightly unusual view of the choir stalls and the famous fan vaulting, and thought that it made a good composition. So here it is for your perusal.
