Libby, Youngest granddaughter
Acrylic on Board (A3) (Unframed)
When my eldest grandchild, Abigail was about three years old, I painted an A3 acrylic of her, when she was at an activity group that we used to take her to. She was dressing up in her favourite ‘Princess’ type of frilly dress, from the ‘dressing up’ box.
Libby is now about the same age and I snapped this view of her when she was at my home just before Christmas. I caught her unaware that she was being snapped. .Always the best pics I think: unposed.
I really liked her expression on this one, and I painted this in less than a full day. I find with any portrait, if I get on with it, and don’t fuss it, generally they look better.
I consider this to be a good likeness, and I like the freedom of brush marks that I have managed to attain.
I hope you like it. I expect I will give it to my daughter, but friends or relatives might want to buy a (discounted) print!
