Mousehole Harbour. Another aspect (A3 acrylic on acrylic board) (Unframed)
I suspect this will be the last view I will paint. for now at least, of Mousehole Harbour. I think I’ve derived pretty good value out of my few days staying there early last spring. It was a good trip, and Mousehole itself is as interesting as it is picturesque. Lots of alleyways. nooks and crannies, all with interesting collections of lobster pots and fishing paraphernalia, as well as the inevitable lovely harbour and town views.
I loved this aspect, looking down across the harbour towards the entrance. better I think at low tide when boats rest at angles on the muddy shore. I took a bit of artistic liberty with the colour of the mud, seeking to try to increase the contrast of light and shade. I don’t know what you think about it.
I always like the tapestry of dwellings on the background wooded slopes. They make a good backdrop to a harbour scene.
I hope that you enjoy this one. I rather enjoyed painting it.
