Misty Light at St Ives Harbour Acrylic on Acrylic Board (A3 Unframed)
I have already produced an acrylic of my trip to Moushole which was in early spring, and I have also produced three or four water colours/pen and ink pictures as a result of the trip.
This is another acrylic, and I can’t quite recall whether this was early morning or late afternoon, The latter I think. I suppose I should be able to tell based on the direction of the light! Let’s say afternoon.
I was looking forward to painting this, and there are parts of it the painting that I am quite pleased with, such as the face of the harbour wall, and the buildings that are more in the foreground, but I was disappointed with the distance work, which whilst capturing the essence of a misty light, felt more like colouring in rather than painting.
However I have another one to paint of the harbour, and maybe this will be more expressive.
