The Church at West Chiltington
Acrylic on Acrylic Board (approx A4) (Unframed)
This is also what I call a ‘quickie’.I also painted this in just two days. It was painted from images, sketches and photos, taken while on a two day jaunt in the South Downs, not long before Xmas 2018. I had set out looking for an old Roman Villa, and after wandering around various narrow lanes, found it, only for it to be closed for the winter months. I wandered further down lanes so narrow and beautiful that it was no hardship exploring, and I came upon this old 11th Century church.
I’m pleased to say that it’s Grade 1 listed. It’s exceptionally beautiful, set mid it’s rambling churchyard, pleasingly not manicured,
This is only an A4 image, which I felt was exactly what was needed, and I really enjoyed painting it. In doing so I discovered the brilliant qualities of Davey’s Grey. Such a good colour.
